Is it normal for the letters on a Magic Keyboard to fade after 18 months ,if so how to fix?

About 18 months ago I purchased a Magic Keyboard for use with my MacBook Air. It works fine but on many of the keys the printed letters have now faded badly: T - completely gone. E- only bottom stroke visible R - upper half gone , lower half faint A & S virtually gone. I appreciate the letters mentioned are the ones used most often but should this have happened so soon to any of them - I use the keyboard intermittently in my work 5 days a week and I am not heavy handed. I believe I am outside the guarantee period of a year, but surely something so fundamental as being able to know which keys are which should last longer than 18 months. Has anyone else experienced this, does anyone have any remedy.

Hi - I got them from Amazon - took a bit of scrolling to find black letters on white background as most are white on black. They are fine - the stick well - all are still intact and you don't feel them once they are on - I didn't replace all of them at once, I add new ones as the letters fade. I've used 11 so far: ERTUIOASDLN but a few of the others are fading now too. I obviously bash to hard.

If you had purchased this Magic Keyboard, along with your MacBook Air, and they still have a valid AppleCare+ plan, then that one year period would have been extended to three years. If not, then yes, the keyboard only came with a one year hardware warranty against manufacturing defects.

... so, if it were me, I would look into getting those stick-on keyboard letters and place them on those specific keys requiring them ... or place them on all of the keys if you prefer.

Thanks very much for the info. I need black on white background, too, as I also have the magic keyboard. My "S" disappeared really fast...just a few months after buying it, and the others within a year. And I'm not an especially aggressive typist. I've never had a keyboard letter fade even slightly before. These are just very weak. If you happen to remember the vendor, that would be great. But I'll do a search.

I bought one of those silicone covers for the keyboard model I have and the type matches the previous exactly. But unfortunately, it totally changes the feel of the keyboard and makes it harder to type fast (at least for me). The reviews said it didn't change the feel of the keyboard, but it does. So this isn't a good solution. I'm going to look for those stickers. The only ones I've found in black on white background so far have ugly, huge letters but that may be the only thing available in black on white.

I checked the packaging they came in and it says Oker Brand. I searched Oker and it seems to be an app you can download ( having once downloaded Temu and taken ages to get rid of it, I wouldn't download this one).

There are also lots on eBay - see this

They are virtually if not the same as mine - the letter size is the same as on the magic keyboarded lets face it having the originals looking various shades of grey as they fade and the 'new' black ones is going to look a bit hotchpotch anyway (you could always replace all of them for uniformity).

The above site is Uk as well - happy to act as intermediary on the deal !
