Apple Music account settings not loading

Hi, I want to manage the Device list on my Music account and when I click on account settings in the account Tab of the app nothing happens. Is there a fix? I tried reloading the app and rebooting my MacBook Pro already.

Ok I think I found where to access the Account Setting Page. For my instance, I use two different AppleIDs for iCloud services and Media/Purchase (iTunes/App Store). My current device is a MacBook Pro 16" (2019) running macOS 14.3.1. The instructions I list are for my setup and might vary if you have an older OS etc.

1) Open "System Settings"

2) Click on iCloud / AppleID at the top of the left menu

3) Click "Media/Purchases"

4) Click the "Manage" button on the "Account" line. There is also a "Manage" for Subscriptions but that is a different than "Account Settings"

5) This pulls up the "Account Setting" which we are discussing from the Music App, but instead, it is accessed through the AppStore. It seems to be the same menu and options as the previous Music App "Account Settings".

It could be a glitch in the Music App, but my guess is Apple will be removing accessing Account Settings from the Music app in the future as they completely decentralize previous iTunes services into multiple Apps for all OS's. Windows is the last iTunes holdout, but it will soon (2024) be replaced with 3 apps for iPhone syncing and media purchase: Apple Music, AppleTV, & Apple Devices (instead of Finder/AppStore for macOS).

Hope this helps!

I am also having this exact issue one 1 computer but not the other. It might have something to do with recent updates.

The computer that is not working is on the latest macOS 14.3.1, while the one that is working is on an older laptop on macOS 12.7.2. Though the accounts settings page that did pull up looked like an old website (plain text etc), but the links worked.

Hi Branok, You are correct, This Account setting page does not have hidden Music/TV/Book purchases; only hidden Apps. I did some more testing on different devices and macOS versions and I found a solution for at least accessing hidden music with an iOS device (steps at the bottom).

Paging Apple Support, you broke Account Settings with updates!!!

This issue seems to be with macOS 14 and associated App versions included (maybe macOS 13, but I have not confirmed). I found there are NO issues accessing Account Settings from Music and TV Apps on macOS 12.7.3 (with the same AppleId), and viewing hidden purchases and all items we are discussing.

***If fact, on the TV app for macOS 12, when I access Account Settings, I can see hidden purchases from Music, Movies, TV, App, Audiobooks within the same Account Setting window (with tabs on top to change category). This is not case with macOS12 Music App, only the TV app.***

Solution for Hidden Music (using iOS device):

I was able to view hidden Music purchase on an iOS device. I tested this on my iPhone 11Pro iOS 17.3.1.

*Note, I do not have Apple Music subscriptions and all my music is locally synced from a computer or purchased/downloaded on iTunes Store. I am not sure if having Apple Music will changes this.*

1) Note: do NOT access the Accounts page from iOS Settings.

2) Open Music App

3) Click the profile icon (top right of screen)

4) Click Account Settings on the next page

5) From this page, I am able to see hidden music purchases

**I also tried this with the iOS TV app to view hidden TV/Movie purchases. Unfortunately, I was not able to access those hidden items. When you follow the same process on the TV app, it only shows hidden apps (similar to macOS)

I had a similar related problem. Unable to even see hidden movies.

Not the best resolution but I have an old MacBook Air with Big Sur. And, can I just say, whoever was in charge of that space back then was brilliant. The interface is so simple. All the media is there by category: Music, Apps, movies, TV...

So in less than a few minutes I was able to "unhide" content that in Sonoma I can "hide" but once you do that you have absolutely no way to "unhide" at this point in time.

So if you can find someone with an older mac. I don't think it needs to be so far back as Big Sur, but if they would temporarily create a "user" for you to login to using your apple id, then you can open the tv app or music app and you'll have your media management options back.

I dove back into this issue with Apple; much shorter session this time. I was set up directly with a Mac tech. Through screen sharing he got to see exactly what the problem was. He took a screen recording of the steps leading up to the roadblock. He is passing it up to engineering to see what solution they may have. I should know by tomorrow or Monday. Schedule coordination is the reason for the time spread.

Two points of interest: I told them about this thread as an indication of how widespread a problem this is. They read the entries. I think that is why it eventually got sent up to engineering. Also, like magic, I could suddenly get into my Account Settings today. However, when I clicked on "Manage" it took me to "Purchased" instead of "Hidden Music". The tech saw all of this and is passing it along. If I really am given a reason/solution for this cluster, I will share it here.

Hi there Latoba,

To start, you'll want to be sure you're following the steps below to attempt to access your device list:

1. On your Mac, open the Apple Music app. Or on your PC, open iTunes for Windows.
2. From the menu bar on your Mac, choose Account > Account Settings. Or from the menu bar in iTunes on your PC, choose Account > View My Account. You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.
3. Click Manage Devices. If no devices are associated with your Apple ID, this section won't appear.

You'll find this information here: View and remove your devices that are associated with Apple ID purchases - Apple Support

As the information above states, you won't see this section if no devices are associated with your Apple ID.

Take care.

Did anybody find a solution for this?

I'm having exactly the same issue on a brand new MacBook Pro M3 Max. I needed to de-authorise some old devices but the account settings in Apple Music won't load.

I can also add that the account settings wouldn't load for me in the Apple TV app either.

Everything else seems to be loading fine with no problems.

I spent 3 hours on the phone yesterday with Apple Support trying to solve this problem. They walked me through all sorts of possible fixes, and they kept elevating me to more senior people. Needless to say, the problem wasn't solved. I finally had to get off of the phone to start dinner. A note: because I cannot get into Account Settings, I cannot discover if my MacBook Air somehow became deauthorized. Apple could not solve the problem, so they cannot find out either. I was invited to call back to continue the conversation. I will have to wait until I have another two or three hours to spend in this scavenger hunt.
