Very old Apple TV

I have a very old Apple TV second or third gen and it is on a software from 7 to 8 and I would really love to know what to do with it. I have been trying to push updated to get it to one of the newest Apple TV OS software’s, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I have a MacBook Air and an iPad Air if either of those could help me! I have tried this three weeks and I don’t think it’s possible any more. But if it is, can you please tell me how to do it exactly how to do it. I really just want Netflix and Disney+. Thanks!

Netflix would still be supported on the legacy models 2nd and 3rd generation, according to Netflix.

The Disney+ app requires an Apple TV (4th generation or later), always has. But I think you can (or could?) stream Disney+ from Apple mobile using AirPlay to an Apple TV (3rd generation). AirPlay may not be supported for the “with ads” tier of the subscription.
