Car Charging with 14 Pro Max

I drive a 2019 Silverado that has a USB port it in for car play etc. I had an iPhone 12 and when I would plug it in it would charge and connect to car play etc.. I just got the 14 pro max. When I plug the phone in car play works and it shows as charging however I think the battery is being used faster than the truck can charge it. Ex. I'll plug it in at 68% battery and when I get home after being hooked up and charging/gps/podcasts for an hour my battery is at 65%. Is this just because I don't have a USB-C port in my truck so it can't charge it quick enough? Would getting one of those little converter things so I can use my USB-C to lightning cable help the cause? Something else potentially going on? Optimized charging was another thought I had but that shouldn't matter when the phone battery % is in the 60's?
