No, they are two very different apps, in Apple's opinion. There's no upgrade path. That said, LPX is dirt cheap compared to other NLEs.

The full price for Logic Pro in the Mac App Store is about the same as upgrade prices for earlier versions of it; in effect, the discount is automatically available to everyone.

Yes, well.... For those of us who purchased Logic pro X several years ago the continual upgrades have been a plus. It may seem unwieldy but the $200 for continual upgrades pretty much makes it worth it no matter when purchasing. I started at logic 2.7 a MIDI only version, so I understand how you feel.
Thank you for your response. That's a shame (different app..? Why does it still carry the same name?) and perhaps LPX is cheap for those who have not invested before in Logic Studio. I don't expect some huge discount, but those 50 bucks could come off the price - in the name of symbolic respect for regular customers.
That's the point, it's not fair that everyone is treated the same.
