Time Machine not working since upgrading to OS Ventura

Upgraded to OS Ventura on 7/10/23. Since then I haven't been able to backup with Time Machine. I keep getting the same message each time:

Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Black WD Time Machine”

An error occurred while preparing the backup.

I've read that there have been issues, but I haven't found any kind of work around. Anyone have any ideas?
