Digital Downloads Are Gray and Cannot Open
I just bought some digital downloads on Etsy to use as designs on ceramic cups. However, when I attempt to use them, they are gray...and I cannot open or use them.

Having purchases them not from Apple, you seed to contact the seller: Etsy. Let them know what has occurred. You may have lost a connection to the server when performing the purchase, and then transaction may have ended up no going through. Go here: How to Contact Etsy Support - Etsy Help
