I use some 3rd party apps. How can I find out if they will still work after I upgrade my OS?

I use quite a few 3rd party apps (e.g. OmniOutliner, Quicken). How can I find out if they will still work after I upgrade to the newest OS?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14
