Hey LeRayCole,

We'd recommend reviewing this article as it provides steps to take if you can't restore your iPad: If you can't update or restore your iPad - Apple Support

If that's not working as expected, we'd suggest trying the steps in this article for additional help resolving restore issues: If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

"1. Update your Mac or PC

Update your Mac. Or if you have a PC, get updates from Microsoft. If you're using iTunes, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.

2. Plug your device directly into your computer

Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod directly into your computer's USB port (not into an attached keyboard or USB hub). Make sure that the cable is in good condition.

Make sure that your device is unlocked. If prompted, trust your device.

If you still see an error alert, try a different Apple USB cable or switch to a different USB port on your computer.

3. Restart your computer and your device

Turn off your computer, then turn it on again. Next, restart your device.

Learn how to restart your iPhonerestart your iPad, or restart your iPod touch.

4. Check your computer’s security software

You might need to update, change, or uninstall software that could be interfering with your computer's connection with iTunes.

5. Use a different computer

Update or restore your device on another computer that uses a different network."

Thanks!

Thank you for your helpful tips; however, I was finally able to get the iPad Pro out of Recovery Data Mode on my own after several attempts...it really takes some persevering and patience to deal with these devices. I did the following:

  1. Turned the device off using the "Quick Touch" method until I was able to turn the device off and get the Apple logo to finally come on.
  2. Plugged the device a genuine Apple USB-C Charge Cable into my PC and the device and waiting for the Update/Restore dialog to display in iTunes (I highly recommend having the latest version downloaded to a PC).
  3. Tried to do an "Update" initially, but this did not work.
  4. Repeated steps 1 and 2 again, and then tried to do a "Restore", this did not work.
  5. Repeated steps 1 and 2, yet again and tried to do another "Update", again to no avail.
  6. Repeated steps 1 and 2, yet for a 4th time, and did a "Restore", and the iPad finally began to wipe itself and all of the data that was on it.
  7. The process took well over 2 hours to complete, but it finally wiped.

Outside of being a tedious and arduous process, I am glad that I put the time into being able to assist my handicapped co-worker who became frustrated and wanted to give up. It was God who had my back, 'cause I too was ready to throw in the towel, but I got it working and for that I am thankful. Hopefully, this will help someone else.
