How is it that Costco can offer a 90 day return window on Apple products, while the Apple Store only offers 14 days?

Buy this one metric, it seems that Costco slightly edges out Apple as the better retailer. Or am I missing something? Is there any advantage to buying a MacBook, iPhone, or iPad from the Apple Store?

It's not a matter of a better retailer or who has better products. Authorized resellers are free to offer an extended return policy. Apple's policy is 14 days, other resellers may choose a longer period. Apple products are all identical, there is no difference between the Apple products sold by an authorized reseller and Apple itself.

As to an advantage of where you buy, you can be sure that the employees of an Apple retail store are well-versed regarding Apple products. That has not always been the case with the employees of authorized resellers.

Far more knowledgeable people. But, if you don't need any help selecting your product, buy from wherever suits you. I buy directly from Apple because the process is seamless and I don't feel as if I need to worry about whether the item I'm buying is perhaps re-packaged or has been sitting on the shelf for too long.

Also, I wonder how easy Costco's return policy is. If it has all sorts of conditions or they make it hard, having extra time isn't worth that much. As there are no Costco's near me, I don't know much about them. Perhaps they are wonderful about returns.
