Left side not working

I have been having problems, off and on, with my left pod. Today, it got where it would not connect in the case no matter what I tried.
But what ended up working was, I took some isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. I cleaned the bottom silver contacts with the paper towel and the alcohol seemed to be able to remove whatever was impeding the contacts.
Why the right side isn't having the same problem, I don't know. If it might help, I used the paper towel as if I was tightening the bottom of the pod like I was screwing it on.
