Should I transcode?

Using FCP 10.6.7 on a new M2pro Macbook to build a project that will include 4k footage from various cameras (Canon C200; drone; GoPro) Canon and drone footage are H264. GoPro is HEVC. Is there any need or advantage to transcode the footage to an Apple ProRes format before import?
