My iPod Touch is unlocked, but Photos thinks it's locked

What do I do?

My iTouch is unlocked, but when I plug in the USB Photos says 'Please unlock iTouch'.

Ugh?

What now...

Salutations gnatmat,

If we’re understanding correctly, your iPod touch is plugged in to your computer, but in the Photos app you’re still being prompted to unlock your iPod. Let’s try this. While your iPod is connected to your computer, please lock and then unlock it with the passcode again. Does that change anything?

Also, a few more basics we can cover.

1. Quit the Photos app

2. Restart your Mac - Shut down or restart your Mac

3. Restart your iPod touch - Restart your iPod touch

4. Test again

Thanks.

I have this same issue and have tried all of the suggestions presented by AnnieL2. None worked. I also tried a different usb cord, as well as different usb inputs to the computer (a Mac Studio running 13.5.1).

Photos works correctly with my iphone and with my Canon camera, but not with the ipod touch (it's an old A1367). The same locked issue happens when I try to import from the ipod using Image Capture and Preview.

I can see and sync the ipod in the finder sidebar, so it appears that the computer and the ipod are both functioning normally.

I'd love to hear a solution.

TIA
