Error (-69879) - can't open disk
I have a new 10 T Seagate drive - which I thought I'd wiped and. using MacExtendedJournaled erased and put stuff on to review - there was [maybe] some data on the disk but when I was able to again attach it to my Mini it came up as "USB External Physical Volume - ExFAT" = there is no way I would have done that but assuming that's t he way it came, it needed to be erased & I tried but got a message that the Erase process has failed - I am doing this on a Monterey Mini and haven't had other problems = I tried twice.
Erasing “HD #043 10T” (disk8s2) and creating “HD #043 10T”
Unmounting disk
Couldn’t open disk. : (-69879)
Operation failed…
Oddly enough it FINALLY mounted on the desktop - it is there but DiskUtility still says it's an ExFAT drive - but I can see the contents [am going to move them off, just in case.
BUT what is going on = how can I wipe the disk and make it MacExtJ and not ExFAT - and why is it able to be seen and accessed on my Mini??
