Question using iphone 14 in Europe with ESIM

Greetings All,

I have an iphone 14 max with Verizon service in USA (CMDA). Planning on trip to Europe next month and am looking at Orange which offers an esim service that works in many countries in Europe.

My questions ...

As Verizon's esim is tied to their CMDA network, are there any issues with a GSM esim from Orange?
I plan on keeping my Verizon number as the primary for incoming calls and use Orange as secondary. To ensure that Verizon doesn't chew up cellular data, I assume I merely turn off cellular data. Will my Orange account with esim then automatically be used for cellular data or do I have to do something special?
I do not plan on enrolling in Verizon's Int'l plan as it costs $10 per day. Orange offers unlimited calls/texts and 20GB of data for 40 € (14 days service). Do you know of any other service offering similar that might be less costly?
Does anyone have experience with Orange? Moviestar? Vodafone? Any thoughts on better service?

Verizon service is no longer CDMA. They shut down their CDMA network December 31, 2022. Verizon now only supports 4G/LTE and 5G.

You would need to switch your cellular data settings to orange (or your choice of carrier), as explained in this support link→Using Dual SIM with an eSIM - Apple Support

Settings > Cellular Data > Allow Cellular Data Switching [enable]

I do not have dual eSIMs on my iphone at present ... only the singular service with Verizon. In my settings, there is no option under Cellular Data to "Allow Cellular Data Switching". The only options I have under Cellular Data are:

Data Roaming (off or on). I have data roaming disabled.
Voice & Data (5G Auto, 5G On, and LTE). I am currently set to 5G Auto
Data Mode (Allow more data on 5G, Standard, and Low Data Mode). I am currently set to "Allow More Data on 5G"

Is the setting, "Allow Cellular Data Switching", an option that becomes available when I install a second eSIM?

Ah. I understand. So, the carriers in Europe with 4G/LTE and 5G (most seem to support this) will all use the same technology as Verizon then. Yes? So should not be an issue with dual eSIMs on my iphone.
