How do I use animated gif as a watch face background?

I'm using Apple's default watch app to make faces. I notice some of them have animations and even sound, like the Mickey one. I have read so many things on the internet saying all I need to do is convert a gif into a live photo and use that as the watch face but none of them are animated when I set it as the face. What am I doing wrong?
