Hey there Gitakulak,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, does this issue only occur when using WhatsApp to make a call? For example, if you receive a normal phone call or even a FaceTime audio call, does the issue occur then?

For a list of troubleshooting steps that can help with troubleshooting unexpected issues with CarPlay, check out this link here: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:
1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
* If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
* If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If the issue is only occurring with WhatsApp, we'd also recommend working through the steps listed in this next link: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

While we understand you're not having issues with the app closing unexpectedly or not opening, the steps in the last link above can help with troubleshooting other unexpected issues with third-party apps as well.

Keep us updated on the results, and we'll continue from there.

Have a great day!

Hey Gitakulak,

Since the issue only happens with the WhatsApp application which is not an Apple app, it’s not an iPhone issue. It’s a WhatsApp issue.

If it’s muting your vehicle’s audio system after ending a WhatsApp call, then the application isn’t working as one would expect. This is why we highly recommend following the steps in this article: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support. If those steps don’t correct the issue, then we recommend reaching out for help from WhatsApp directly: WhatsApp Help Center

All the best.

Hi Gita and All expert,

I have same problem, it seems you are using Nissan car I too.

I checked in many other cars and all model like BMW, Vw, Audi, Volvo has same problem.

i will try your suggestion but i found when i or someone after this issue call with normal phone problem solved until next WhatsApp call.

Also i saw problems coming from Audio system that don’t change volume control from call to music.

this is an issue that has been seen in all updates too.

Hello Gitakulak,

It sounds like you've isolated the issue down to only happening when you end calls with WhatsApp. If you took these relevant steps to troubleshoot WhatsApp: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open Then you'd need to contact WhatsApp's developers for further support with their app: How to contact an app developer They would need to take it from here.

Take care.

Hi ,

Thank for coming back to me .

It is only with Whats app.

Normal phone call does not affect sound system , can have normal phone call and radio gets back to normal .

I recorded video . Would you like me to send .

WhatsApp mutes car audio system when it’s finished if I have phone connected through Apple car play or cable . When it is connected through Bluetooth is fine.

I can have radio/ you tube back once Whats app call is finished.
