Audio and sound missing when importing in Final Cut Pro

I recorded interviews of my family with the micro shotgun MKE600. The sound is recorded. I can hear the sound when I am going through my rushes in Final Cut Pro. But once I import them on the timeline, the sound disappear. I am no technician. I am using only Final Cut Pro for fun.

I am using a Mac and I am on the macOS Monterey version 12.6.7 / Final Cut Pro 10.6.5

Thanks in advance for your help.

Elaborating a bit: when adding to the timeline, there is an option to add All (i.e., Video and Audio), Video Only or Audio Only.

The keyboard shortcuts are Shift-1, Shift-2 and Shift-3.

You probably accidentally pressed Shift-2.

Note that this can also be selected from the Edit menu->Source Media, or from a little menu above the timeline.

Hello Luis,

Without doing anything, the sound appeared. And then it disappeared again. I went to see in preference and saw that Audio Units were set on Validate on Next Launch (and I have no other options to choose from). I have no clue what that means. But what I have noticed is that at some point the audio disappears, I close Final Cut Pro and then on the next launch the audio appears. Really annoying for the workflow.

But what you say makes sense because Shift 1 and Shift 2 were my shortcuts for Trim Start and Trim End. After resetting my preferences this morning (Zoom in and the keys Cmd = were not working anymore), I changed my trim end and trim start command to Cmd 1 and Cmd 2 but I might have touched the Shift 1 or Shift 2 by habit.

I will let you know if that's the problem.
