Reduced security has nothing to do with Software. You had another problem which was likely resolved when you restarted.

Yeah, once I looked back and saw that it was Apple Silicon I figured out what the original goal was. When I read T2, that blinded me from making the connection to legacy kernel extensions. I was stuck on the external boot options.

Understanable. I was too to be honest.

Normally to install software that may not install because of a security issue, you can just right click on the installer and choose Open from the menu that opens.
