screen not working m1 pro

My year old M1 pro 16in was working great until suddenly the screen went dark in the middle of typing. Thinking it died, I plugged it in. It wasn't dead, so I tried restarting it when I noticed the white apple logo screen was extremely blurry. I believe the backlight hardware went out. The apple store quoted me $900 to fix it but it seems like a year old rarely used macbook should not be dead in less than 2 years. Has anyone else seen this issue and know if there is a recall?

If you search this forum, you'll find numerous cases just like yours. No two Macs are alike and though we hope they will run error free for years, some just don't. In order to help medicate this eventuality, Apple offers low cost expended warranty ... AppleCare.

If you have no warranty coverage, the cost of repair is yours to pay.
