iPhone 14 Pro will not automatically back up to the icloud, but will do it manually

As the title says, my phone will not back up to icloud even though it is set to do so automatically. However, if I click "Back Up Now" it will do it.

I have iCloud back up turned on, back up over cellular turned on, the phone is connected to wifi, and is plugged into a charger. I had this issue with my old phone, which broke, and was replaced. Since there was no backup available, this new phone started over completely and still will not back up. I have contacted support several times and thus far they have not been able to figure it out either. My husband's phone, which is on the same wifi network and everything else, back ups automatically every night. I'm at a loss.

Hello AnimalDoc2013,

It sounds like you've already been in touch with Apple Support and have an ongoing case with them about this issue backing up to iCloud automatically.

If you haven't yet, we'd recommend taking these relevant steps to check your settings: How to back up your iPhone or iPad with iCloud

Automatically back up with iCloud Backup

1. Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.

2. Connect your device to a power source.

3. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.

4. Make sure that your device's screen is locked.

5. If you get an alert says that you don't have enough iCloud storage space to complete the backup, follow the onscreen steps to buy more storage.

Do you have enough available iCloud storage to complete this backup? Is the iPhone locked while on the charger? As these would be required to get the backup started.

If so, the best route towards a resolution would be to continue with Apple Support. We'd recommend using your existing case number and contact them for a solution: Get Support They'd need to take it from here.

Take care.
