FCPX update 10.6.7 causes video freezing and restart

I've been having the same issue since this update!

Everything worked fine before on my 2022 Macbook Pro M1. Now regular playback of 4k video freezes and I have to restart in order to have normal playback again.

I'm having to keep restarting FCP every 10 minutes or so to get through my edit.

Very frustrating

Are you still on 10.6.7?

You should make a zip of it and download 10.6.8, which appears to have fixed the issues with 10.6.7.

Since 10.6.8 does not require updating the libraries, you can if necessary go back to 10.6.7.

Final Cut Pro 10.6.7 has been released, and whilst there have been some users that have reported zero issues, there's many professionals that are reporting lots of unexpected bugs and crashes.

Dylan Bates - The Final Cut Bro has posted a video here explaining.

There currently doesn't seem to be any common thread - people on Apple Silicon, Intel, Monterey, Ventura, etc. are all reporting different problems across all areas of the application - from Viewer going black to full system shutdowns.

For now, I would strongly suggest you stick with Final Cut Pro 10.6.5 or Final Cut Pro 10.6.6 until Apple resolves these issues in a future update.

We are keeping track of the bug reports here, in our Bug Tracker. We've reported several bugs directly to Apple.

I've personally been pushing Final Cut Pro 10.6.7 pretty hard since it's release on a new, big and complex timeline, with heaps of Motion Templates, effects, stills and random footage. I've had to restart it a few times due to the Viewer going black, or strobing, and so far I've had a few crashes.

Additionally, Final Cut Pro 10.6.7 (for Mac) uses a newer Library format than Final Cut Pro 1.1 (for iPad). This means that if you want to use Transfer Toolbox to go from Mac to iPad, you should keep using Final Cut Pro 10.6.6 (for Mac).

I've found that many of the plugins that worked when replaced in the timeline fail to work when the file is reopened. I'm exploring another route by copying the media in the timeline and creating what is essentially a duplicate timeline. So far all the plugins appear to work in the new timeline. Fingers crossed. I'm oping that there may have been some dependencies (or corruption caused by 10.6.7) in the original timeline that had an impact on the plugins.

10.6.6. worked fine....immediately after updating to 10.6.7 I had crash upon crash...and the speed at which my Mac Studio operated in FCPX slowed by 80%. The spinning wheel of death is now ever present. PLEASE FIX SOON!!! I am a professional editor and this type of disaster only fuels my other professional editor friends' making fun of me for using FCPX instead of Avid or Resolve!

I'm a film editor trying desperately trying to finish major projects. 10.6.7 has many bugs but the one I'm experiencing the most is that the program seems to loose links to media and plugins will work for a time and then stop producing the red MEDIA OFFLINE. If I remove the plugin the media will come back and then I can add the same plugin with the same attributes and it will work for a time. But when I reopen the Project it's gone again.

This problem occurs on both Intel and Apple Silicone computers.
