Apple Series 6 Calling 911 Emergency After Being Wet Glitch
I went swimming (doing laps) in my pool, using my watch according to Apple's specifications. I got out of the pool and felt a vibration and saw that my watch was counting down to calling emergency services, but the screen was locked and I couldn't unlock it, nor could I stop it using my phone. When the watch called 911, the operator couldn't hear me. Luckily, she called me back to confirm whether I had a real emergency before dispatching services, which I got through my phone. I was mortified that my watch had wasted 911 resources. Not only that, but after I hung up the call with the 911 operator, my watch called 911 again. I couldn't get it to stop. I tried putting it on the charger, and tried a force restart, at which point my watch died. I took it to the Genius Bar at Bayshore mall where the manager Cory told me that if it's water damage that there's nothing they can do because the watch is "water resistant, not water proof, and users use it in water at their own risk". So, even though the watch is less than a year old, according to Apple representatives, there is "nothing they can do".
