Spam Virus With Pop-Up - How To Get Rid of It

My MacBook Pro was compromised by a spam virus alert yesterday and now I get this constant flag with the Systems logo popping up on the top right of my screen every twenty seconds. I spoke to customer service but they cannot remove this pop-up. Can anyone assist? Thanks.
