iPadOS highlighter use

When I write something with apple pencil and then highlight my hand written text, it works amazingly well. However when I use highlighter to highlight text in a printed PDF it covers the text, is if it’s more of a marker than a highlighter.

Is there are a workaround to this? So that when I highlight text in a PDF it would not fade the text and just highlight it?

iPadOS 17 removed the ability to select text using Pencil in PDFs in the Files app Prior to iPadOS 17 I was happily using my Pencil in the Files app to select text in PDFs and then highlight it. You just had to: 1) Enter Markup mode (clicking on the Markup icon) 2) Choose the Select tool 3) Exit Markup mode. After that, you could select text using the Pencil and then use the popup to highlight it. iPadOS 17 has for some inexplicable reason removed this ability. It was one of the main uses I had for the iPad. Now, the only way to highlight text in PDFs in the Files app is to use your finger.... (?!?!) What is the point of having a sophisticated stylus device that can't now even do the most basic functionality such as selecting text? I really don't understand....

Using Scribble on fillable pdfs in Files App Is using Scribble (converting handwriting to text with the Apple Pencil) supported by the Files App when editing PDFs with fillable fields? Hardware iPad Pro 11" (3rd gen) Apple Pencil (2nd gen) I few months ago, I'm sure I could do the following in the Files App in iPadOS Open Files app tap on pdf with fillable fields tap on a field, insertion point appears Start handwriting into the field, which gets converted to text If I enter markup mode, there is no Pencil icon with the "A" on it. This is not working at the moment. I'm on iPadOS 16.4.1 (a) Scribble will work in other apps like Word, Notes, Spotlight, Safari search box.

Highlight typed text with Apple Pencil in Notes? While in Notes on iPadOS, can you highlight text that is typed with an Apple Pencil 2? I was shocked when I was in a classroom setting (first time in awhile) and was typing notes in Notes app and attempted to highlight with my Apple Pencil 2, it simply wouldn’t allow me. It seems you can only use the highlight function on Apple Pencil written text or objects. That seems like a huge oversight in the pencil’s/highlighting utility. I’m running latest iPadOS 16.1 (20B82). Thanks for any guidance on this. If it doesn’t exist, how can we request this feature formally?
