"sender address was invalid" error

I've set up a new email account (Mail client) successfully on my Mac and partially so on my phone. The issue is the account on the iPhone will receive mail but cannot send and gives the error message "sender address was invalid".

The strange thing is it has worked twice (after deleting and reinstalling the account) but will not do so thereafter.

does not seem to be anything awry in account settings - anyone with any ideas on how to fix ?

The sender address was invalid Email from my own domain name works fine on iPad iOS 16.2 but using EXACTLY the same set up details, including the optional username and password for the outgoing server settings, in my iPhone 12 iOS 16.2 returns the error “Cannot Send Mail. The sender address was invalid” Clearly this is an issue on the iPhone only. iPad works as expected. Using iOS Spark on iPhone to send email works ok too. So unsure why this is suddenly a problem on my relatively up to date iPhone. Have tried pretty much everything!

Email problem following update to 16.6 After updating both my iPhone and iPad to os 16.6, I can no longer send email using the Mail app, from my primary email account (with my ISP). I keep getting a message that the sender's address is invalid. I can still receive email from that account -- and send email using the devices that haven't been updated yet. I have to think that something in the update is causing this issue. I went to my ISP's website, got the latest email setup settings, which appear to be the same as I have. I'm not going to update the other devices until this issue is resolved. Is anyone else having this issue with the new update?
