Voiceover turns off screen

Every time I activate Voiceover via Siri voice commands, the screen goes blank/black. Gestures still cause sounds/outputs, but I have now way of knowing what I’m gesturing to/on. Anyone else have this problem and overcome it? This didn’t happen 3 days ago, but now happens every time.

It sounds like you have screen curtain enabled. Check out info on screen curtain here: Use Screen Curtain with VoiceOver for your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support

With three fingers, quickly triple-tap the screen. If the Zoom feature is in use with VoiceOver, tap the screen four times with three fingers.
