Phone lock

I bought a iPhone use for my wireless store. My daughter used I broke my phone I did a factory reset and now it’s saying it’s locked to Verizon wireless. I paid $700 for the shoes from two years ago. I don’t know the people and I cannot find my receipt, so now the stores acting like they can’t help me like they never sold me the phone what do I do?
