Charge iPad while wired headphones are plugged in.

Good day,

I have an iPad with an USB-C port. To listen to audio (Music / Movies / FaceTime) on my iPad, I am using wired headphones. I need to use this USB-C to 3.5-mm Headphone Jack Adapter.

My headphones now take up the single USB-C port on the iPad. (The iPad lacks a headphone jack.) I seem to be unable to figure out how to charge the iPad without interrupting listening to audio?

I am not looking for Bluetooth or wireless headphones.

Side note: When using an HDMI cable while also charging the iPad I use this USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. I guess I am hoping for a similar adapter that allows me to charge the iPad and have my headphones plugged in.

Third-party USB-C to 3.5mm Adapters, that incorporate a compatible DAC and USB-C PD pass-through power, are available. You would be best advised to choose an adapter from one of the better manufacturers that explicitly state compatibility with your Apple devices.

Of those available, Satechi have good reputation - and as a brand are often marketed by Apple.

At this time, Apple do not market an Apple-branded 3.5mm Jack adapter that includes USB PD pass-through power.

Apple will steer-you towards using a wireless (i.e., Bluetooth) headphone solution, that leaves the charging port available for power and/or connection to a USB-C hub/dock - the latter sometimes including a 3.5mm audio jack.
