I have a pair of 1st gen AirPod Pros that are a couple years old and the battery life is waning. So I purchased a new pair of Gen 2 AirPod Pros and experienced the SAME thing as you described!
People suddenly unable to make out what I was saying, claiming my voice seemed “muffled”. After I was told that by another party, as a former CTO, I started testing.
Since I still had a working pair of 1st gen AirPods, I called the same person ising my Gen 2 Pods and it was still reported as being muffled. I then, on the same call, switched to my GEN 2 AirPods asking if that was any better, and they said , “yeah now it’s clear”.
However, just to be sure, I decided to test it with an IT tech friend and called, asking him if he could hear me and all of that, and he said yeah, but my voice was a little muffled and I said OK, and then switched back again to the GEN 1, asking if that was any better, and he said it was like normal now, asking what I did.
So returned them and purchased another brand new pair. return them and explained my problem and of course it was within the timeframe so they took them back and I got a brand new pair. Same results after calling them both but not mentioning anything until they both again complained I sounded muffled.
i looked through the AirPod app, but all adjustments are related to how I hear, and none that effect the microphone.
im disappointed but not surprised.
in my 20 years with Apple, the current leadership is only concerned with sales & profit. And like prescription medication …. Until the death rate begins to effect yearly revenue… the losses are acceptable.
I am warning the few million I can post to though. Purchase the Gen 1. I wish I had. …🤨
