Have a selfie I took and in bottom left corner is a circle with a pic of me in it with a question mark beside it. What is this?

When you are seeing a circle with a face in the lower left corner of the photo, when you view it enlarged, Photos has detected a face in the photo. When you are seeing a question mark next to the circled face, the photo needs assigning to a named person in the people album. Photos may not have recognized the selfie as a picture of you. Tap the circle to open the People album for this photo and name it.
