How well does MacBook Air 15" perform with lid closed and external display?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying the new MacBook Air 15 inch. Does anyone have direct experience using this new Air with the lid closed and an external monitor?

Under medium loads, i.e. basic video editing/exporting, Lightroom exports, does it heat up and throttle the performance much?

I can't speak for the new 15" Air, but I have an M1 MacBook Air that I use 90% of the time on my desktop in clamshell mode with a 4K monitor, Thunderbolt dock with several drives attached.

I use Affinity Photo and DxO PhotoLab for processing and preparing for web RAW images from my D7500 and have never seen the temps go much higher than 40-45C. Sometimes with batch exports it may push 55C but drops quite quickly when done. Considering that based on anecdotal evidence on the web that throttling doesn't start until temps push above 90C for any length of time, it operates well within a safe temperature zone.
