Final Cut Pro - Timecode format for Sports Events longer than 60 minutes

Hi guys from community and from Apple Developer team.

I have one small question. I very often edit videos from football (soccer) matches.

And as you know, the duration of such a match is 90 minutes. Sometimes it goes into extra time and the game is played up to 120 minute.

In the Motion program, I created an Effect for Final Cut that uses the Timecode component. This component has only 3 formats (HMS, HMSF, Frames).

The first two of these formats use sixties time. At 59 minutes and 59 seconds, the time jumps to 1 hour 0 minutes and 0 seconds.

There is a possibility from Apple developers to create a new format in the future, which could, for example, make the time 85:14 (85 minutes and 14 seconds) or 112:10 (112 minutes and 10 seconds) for a sports event?

I don't think you'll get very far requesting the feature from Apple. Soccer isn't really a widely followed sport in America as it is in the rest of the world and the purpose of this particular kind of clock is **too specific**. It's not really used for anything else...

To my knowledge, there has only ever been one soccer clock built for Final Cut.

Do a google search for "sports clock for soccer +final cut pro". It should show up at the top of the list followed by a couple of "clock tutorials" if you prefer to try them out.

I haven't tried this but you may be able to use the Numbers text generator in Motion rather than the TC generator. Set it to start at 0 and end at 85. I think, from memory, there's a decimal slider as well that may get you to the :14 but I'm not sure, I'm fuzzy on this and can't check right now. This may get you close but not exactly there. There's a possibility that running two Numbers generators together, may work, one for mins and one for seconds or a combination of Numbers and TC generators and mask off what you don't want to see from the TC generator. I'd have to fiddle with it.

TC with mins rather than hours would be handy though. Send the Final Cut Team feedback here: Feedback - Final Cut Pro - Apple
