I'm purchasing a 24 inch iMac, what is the difference between a M17 core and an M1 a core

If you use a lot of wired peripherals like multiple backup drives, avoid the 2-port 7-core at all costs.

If you use wired ethernet, you have to pay extra for an ethernet port on the 7-core model. The 8-core comes with the ethernet port included on its power supply.

As always, remember that neither RAM or storage in Mac computers can be increased after the device on the assembly line. Buy the RAM and storage today that you may need in 2-3 years.

Just to add, the 8 core iMacs have more ports and come standard with a Touch ID Keyboard and Ethernet.
