I cannot remember my password. I am trying to get into my apple computer. I am at the right screen, and I’ve entered a password many times and ‘reset password’ has not came up yet.

If you don't see the message after three attempts, then your account isn't set up to allow resetting with Apple ID.
Resetting the login is not just picking something new. It has to be verifiable as your device. Otherwise anyone unauthorized could reset it.
