App-specific password
I can’t generate an app-specific password. Did Apple change the procedure? When I click “generate”, I get this message (see attachment), which is not helpful. Same (similar) on my iPhone. Thanks. Marko C.

I had a chat with Apple. There is a problem with Safari and this service. But when you use Chrome or Arc you can generate app specific passwords. So this I just a workaround but works very well

Hmmm …
… see if this article helps:
Sign in to apps with your Apple ID using app-specific passwords - Apple Support
I just used it to create a “test” password myself.
Finally got it sorted, used @icloud.com instead on Safari of my normal domain. Thanks for the information.
An other solution is using your @icloud.com instead of @me.com when you logged in. That works for me too and using Safari.
On what device was this image generated?
Was it on one of your fully logged-in to your AppleID “Trusted Devices” ?
It might appear that it was created via a browser session.
@icloud.com is an alias of @me.com, which is my Apple ID. You sure you can sign in with an alias?
My only other suggestion is a “Microsoft’ish” power-off restart …
… but beyond that I’m stumped. 🤷🏼
Sorry. 🙁
(and I don’t have an Apple Silicon Mac myself with which to further experiment)
This works, thank you!
Support literally told me they had no clue and to just try updating my phone. I already had. They left me hanging and said to try back in 48 hours if it still doesn't work. They left to find more resources and were stumped. It's apparently not a fix across the board or a lot of other people wouldn't be experiencing the same thing and Apple wouldn't just give up like that did with me.
On my MacBook Air (2020, M1). Yes, it is “trusted”.
I know this. I’ve created (and revoked) many app-specific passwords. And I don’t have 25 of them by far.
Thanks for the follow-up.
I was indeed using a Chromium-based browser for my test this AM.
OMG, this really works! Thank you so much … MC
Same problem as author. All operations on my ipad. Initially using Safari but after reading this thread used Chrome and still the same result, any help appreciated
No luck for me on my iPhone. It’s driving me crazy. Apple frustrates me so much sometimes.
