I’m trying to update my MacBook 2012 Pro. Currently has no use besides to watch movies on it. But I want to be able to access Word and Excel etc on here but the version isn’t compatible for me to do so. Can someone help me please. I need to know if there is anything I can do with this laptop besides watch movies on it lol

Back Up your Mac First: Be certain you Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac, so that way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reconfiguration.
Microsoft doesn't typically provide support for such old versions of Office like you would need. And, there is the 32 bit vs 64 bit little concern you likely have to deal with.
I suggest if you want a good office suite, you use FreeOffice or LibreOffice. Both are free and quite good. Compatibility with MS Office is quite good too.
Yes, you can't install on a system that is too full. You will need at least 40 GB of continuous space to install Catalina.
Make sure your data is backed up, and you are ready to upgrade any applications you use to 64 bit versions. This may require upgrade pricing.
The installer is in the Applications folder as Install Mac OS Catalina.app

Neither really supports the same résumé formatting as Microsoft Word. Layout gets really messed up going ot the free alternatives.
I tried to download Catalina and it wouldn’t let me.. so I’m not sure if it’s cause there’s no space but it doesn’t even bring Catalina up when I search it
