AFAIK you could also install DemoUnit from demounit.apple.com and then select a store and then enroll your iPhone via serial number to that store. Wish you luck 🍀

A Demo iPhone is a Property of Apple.
This iPhone cannot be used and is not for sale.
Return it to a nearby Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller in your region.
Demo iPhones are sold on the black market, obtained when breaking into an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller.
If you have bought it from some one, ask you money back.
Sorry for the late reply but I also have an iPhone 7 which couldn’t get activated and also had a baseband problem and I updated it and it still won’t activate. I have read that it might be a short in the baseband chip which is kinda irreparable except if you’d solder a new baseband chip. Regards, hops this helps

No, you cannot do this. Demo units are exactly what one expects a demo unit to be, which is a floor model iPhone. If you come across a phone which is a demo unit, it would be a stolen Apple Store iPhone and cannot be used. And you cannot turn a phone which was not a Demo unit into a Demo unit at all. Only Apple can do that as again, for demo (display) phones in an Apple Store.
You can actually turn a store-bought iPhone into a demo unit, as in, have store demo content loaded onto it through DemoUnit as long as it is an iPhone 11 or newer.
is that even legal?
