Why can I not get a sports tab on my apple+ TV

If you have an Apple TV box (3rd generation) A1427 (2012) or A1469 (2013), then that model would be too old for this feature. It would also be too old for MLS or FNB.

The Sports tab in the Apple TV app is available on select Apple devices (Apple TV box, iPad) in select countries. I believe that is just the US and Canada at this time. It has to do with the availability of sports apps that connect to the Apple TV app.
For MLS and FNB, try the Search tab. That should show tiles for soccer and baseball. Else type MLS or Friday Night Baseball as search keywords, or the full name of a team in those leagues.
After a long chat session and a phone discussion with an Apple techie, it was determined that my old apple box was an old version and not capable of dealing with the latest software which supports the sports feature.
