Settings = Preferences
Am I right, 'Settings' in the drop down menu has replaced the word 'Preferences'? Preferences continues to come up for support, but I do not see it as an option anymore.

Or, it was part of the ongoing convergence between macOS and iOS. Also, "Settings" is far more common on other platforms.

Programmers don't write the documentation. Also, Apple continues to offer versions of support documentation for previous versions of macOS so, yes, there will be places where you might see "Settings".
If using Mac OS Ventura, yes.

Further proof that Apple owns the operating system, not the end user licensees, and can do whatever they want to it without any user consideration. Just like the computer vendors in the 1980s…
