Need the date on my messages/texts, not merely "today"

I am being challenged by a company who sent me a text message TODAY but they say they didnt and since my screenshot only says today, they say it could be ANY DAY. I need the actual date, not merely the time.

This is incorrect. There are other threads that talk about timestamps, and unfortunately in Messages the only way (that we know of) to see timestamps is to swipe and hold to the left from within a conversation. The timestamps are hidden in the right side margin of the screen for some reason.

Messages needs to make timestamps a toggle-able option to be more useable in day to day life.
