Using Migration Assistant from PC to Macbook Air

I'm transferring data from my PC with Windows 11 to my new MacBook Air. I am using Migration Assistant. It said to disable automatic Windows updates. There was only Pause, which I did. A screen said I have to disable. Google says Windows 11 doesn't have a way to disable, so I ran the transfer anyway. The Mac said I was transferring and then that it was complete, but nothing is in there. I called Apple. They said I HAVE to disable automatic updates. I googled, found a video and followed it, where I disabled and stopped all auto updates in services. It SAYS it's disabled. (I have not restarted so it's not reverting back to the default. I also set it to "take no action" if I do restart.) And yet when I went to transfer again, the same window said I have to disable. Apple said that means I have not disabled the updates. I continued with transfer anyway, same "results". I don't know what else to do. Apple says that the window that says I have to disable the updates would not come up unless I had not disabled them. Is this true? Or could it be some other reason that either the data didn't transfer or that it did and I can't find it?

Here's Apple guidance: Transfer from PC to Mac with Migration Assistant - Apple Support

What you are dealing with is not an Apple issue. Apple makes the process possible, but Microsoft may make changes in their OS that negates Apple's methodology.

If the part that's not working resides on the Microsoft side, you'll have to deal with Microsoft. And it may well be that Windows 11 does not play nicely with Apple's Migration Assistant. I have no idea. When we broke with Microsoft, I transferred everything manually. After that I set up our Macs as I wanted them, step by step, in order to learn the new-to-me OS.

You can also provide feed back to Apple, that's not this community, just to cover all bases. But understand, Apple does things in Apple's own time and not as we might want them too. The same can be said for Microsoft.
