I was given a Apple TV HD by my
boss because he doesn’t use it at work anymore. (I work for a restaurant) When I set up the Apple TV I noticed it said configuring Rarefied Atmosphere right before finishing the set up. The only app available is atmosphere and airplay is permanently disabled. Is there a way to roll back the software to its original state or is the Apple TV essentially a brick?

The Apple TV box may have been configured with a device profile, which allow s for much greater customization and restrictions. Not sure if it is necessary that the original owner/profile applier removes that profile. I think that depends on any MDM ‘lockdown’ to prevent (accidental or intentional) changes.
They may have subscribed to this service: www.atmosphere.tv? If they got the Apple TV box pre-configured from there too, then Atmosphere may be the only one to reset it properly. As service usually doesn’t extend after the subscription ended, any additional action from them seems unlikely. Then it would be bricked.
