Scam virus, gmail, google hacks popping up on my Mac book Air?

I know these are scams since I was following someone else this was happening to, but to get rid of them it says to go to safari, settings..from the menu, but I can't find menu in my safari tab. It says Safari extensions, but it's not the right thing. How do I get to the menu from my safari so I can follow the steps listed. Any help appreciated!
