Bird Process Using High CPU on 2018 iMac running Ventura 13.4.1

Recently I've experienced several time where my iMac would hang up while trying to run Lightroom Classic 12.4. When I look at Activity Monitor, the bird process is using anywhere from 52 - 156% of the CPU. I am unable to get any work done due. I know bird is used for iCloud syncing but surely it doesn't need to consume the entire machine

I'm looking for any advice!

Thanks!

Hey dbush79,

Thanks for replying and for that additional info. Were you able to test this situation in safe mode and/or a new user account as we suggested earlier? If not, please try those steps, as this will help us isolate this further. Another steps that could help with this is to run First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing.

Hi dbush79,

It sounds like this is the only app you have this issue with. If so, for help with  Lightroom Classic performance check out the helpful information from the developers website here: Optimize Lightroom performance

Regarding the bird process, you can test the issue in safe mode and a new user account to see if it persists. If needed the articles below can help get you started.

Use safe mode on your Mac

Add a user or group on Mac

If the issue remains, reach out to Apple directly to further assist. If needed get connected using the link here: Get Support

Best.
