Hard cases and MacBook Pro screens.

I have a hard protective case for my M1 MBP. It clips on to the lower half of the laptop meaning there are two slightly raised plastic lumps, one either side of the trackpad. Necessarily this makes a slight difference to the way the lid closes leaving a slight gap. There is also, with the case, a translucent keyboard cover that raises the overall height of the keys.

I've heard that this is a recipe for a cracked screen, particularly from the raised plastic bumps where the power case clips on. Is my concern justified?

Figured as much.

Don't normally go for hard cases but this looks SO nice. (Black/blue marble effect.)

The lid doesn't close properly with the case in place, meaning any weight on the lid will flex the whole assembly from the centre.

Sigh.

Never mind.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I should point out here that one of the cases advertised on Apple's own website has the exact same lower case front edge clips. So - also confused. Is that one somehow different?

If a product meets Apple's requirements to be shown on the site, Apple will allow that. Can you imagine the uproar if requirements were met and Apple arbitrarily just excluded something? I seem to recall something like that already happening.

Caveat emptor applies. Just because you can do something doesn't make it a good idea.
