Wallet cards shared across Family

Why are Wallet cards being shared across iCloud family members’ devices without any consent or approval?

i discovered that my wallet cards are showing up on my sons devices (they use different icloud accounts under the family account).

Thanks for all your replies, just to make sure we do not deviate from main subject, I am referring to Airline cards showing up in my son’s wallet app on his phone signed with his icloud account and not to payment cards. Please see screenshot from my under son’s phone, the cards are originally from my wallet for tickets of flights I have taken but they showed up in his wallet app.

Thanks for the reply, my kids have their own accounts, and we are only linked through the family account, however my wallet cards including travel tickets, etc… showed up in their phones which use their own accounts, which is really strange and I do not have the option to unshare in icloud settings, this poses a privacy issue, I would appreciate help.

Linked how?

What exactly did you do to have this link?

There should be no account linkage when using Family sharing.

Their own accounts should be logged in in Settings ➜ Apple ID, and Settings ➜ Apple ID ➜ Media & Purchases.

If your account appears in any of those locations, then it is a mistake.

Only their accounts should appear on their devices. And you should their accounts on your devices in Settings ➜ Family.

There's no way for your payment methods to appear on their devices unless your Apple ID is logged in somewhere in them.

I use Family Sharing. My payment method does in fact appear in Settings>Your Name>Payment and Shipping on my wife and daughter’s devices. I am the family organizer and that is the card they have to use for payment for purchases. My card never comes into play because we all redeem gift cards which are always used for payment first.

But in Settings>Your Name>Media and Purchases>Family Sharing on both of their phones, it states that I am the person responsible for the payments in the family. My card does not appear in there.

It should not. That implies your payment method is added to their Apple IDs.

I use Family sharing to with my Sister, and I don't see her payment methods there. Only mine.

There is no reason to see the Organizer's payment methods on family members devices and no way unless the Apple Ids are being shared, or the payment methods themselves have been added to the family members accounts.

You should see your own shared Payment method in Settings ➜ Family ➜ Purchase Sharing, only.

We all have separate ID’s. They did not add the card and neither did I. I first noticed it when I had to get a new debit card a while back. Since I am the organizer, I added my credit card for the time being until the new debit card arrived. When the new debit card came and I entered it, for some reason I checked my wife’s settings and both of my cards appeared in there. I did not add them.

On another note, I have seen a number of family sharing organizers ask if there is a way for other family members to add their own cards for payments and the settings won’t accept them. In the settings for my wife’s account, Add Payment Method is greyed out in Settings>Her Name>Payment & Shipping. I can’t add her card if I wanted to.

Now I’m not sure what to do.

Those aren't cards. Those are tickets or passes.

Those can be shared. If you went on a trip, and shared the passes with your son, then they would be stored on his device until he deletes them. There's nothing terribly wrong with that.

If you did not share them with him, maybe you forwarded an email or he accessed the British Airways website and added the passes that way?

There's many ways to add passes to Wallet that does not in involve Family Sharing.

@Demo, maybe it depends on wether Purchase sharing is turned on. It's not turned on for us, and I can add payment methods from here.
