backup on time machine

Hi, will my Mac backup on Time Machine if the hard drive is connected, even if Mac is closed in stand by?

Yes. Depending on the Mac model you have, there may be a Power Nap setting to turn on first. If using a Silicon Mac, then there is no setting and is already on.
