All the notes on my iPhone disappeared

It happened to me this morning. I was checking a note on the passenger seat of a car. Found the note and put the phone down. A couple of minutes later, we arrived at a destination. I picked up my phone try to find notes. Can not locate the notes app at all. Searched library, the notes app is not there. All the notes including the notes app are gone

Same problem here, I worked extensively for the last 3 days in the notes app, iCloud storage was full so I upgraded, the notes were not syncing between devices, and now I lost all my work from the last days. What a trash is iCloud service

I just read that you are having the same trouble concerning lost Notes. I am not a techie but I tried to check my App setting after having an upgrade. That didn't solve the problem but I did check all my iphone app screens at some point and I I may have "found it" in a box that had 3 Apps in it. In any event, my old Notes returned and I am just so pleased. I'm transferrring all my data to a small notebook. I don't like the look of Reminders and will never use that as I use the calendar on my laptop.

Earlier today I saw that my storage was full and I had to update my phone (iPhone 11) to 17.3 but I had no storage. I clicked on manage storage and my phone froze so I thought it would be an easy fix by just restarting my phone and trying again. My phone ended up being stuck on the Apple logo for an extended period and even after I hooked it up to my computer it would be stuck. It finally comes back on but I can barely see any apps and I notice my notes are all gone except for shared notes I have with someone. I also was able to delete enough things to get my phone to update and that didn't fix my notes. I have also tried the "On my iPhone" and "Accounts" method which creates new folders in my notes but don't restore any of my notes, like many other people I use those notes daily to remember important things and I don't know what else to do. Please help.

Apple notes for a sales meeting is horrible. I lost everything today.

I’m in our yearly sales meeting today and scanned in the handouts to annotate with key notes to save on my iPad. Everything was going great all day. I’ve taken notes on the scans and key directives from management. ALL DAY!! Then boom. All my annotations disappear in front of my eyes while I’m not touching the iPad. Everything gone! Now I’m the idiot who trusted Apple with my work. So frustrating.

All my notes are completely gone. I logged onto iCloud and most of the notes were there (not all of them some are still missing i think the ones with photos) They’re still not on my phone, but they are on iCloud Idk what to do

Oh my god so it's not just me. This happened to me this morning unfortunately at this point I probably can’t recover them because I tried many ways to fix them so there won’t be a back up for me anymore. 🥺😭

I went to go type something in an existing note when it suddenly closed the note and took me to the notes home screen. But everything was gone. I can't search up my notes like others can, it's all just gone. When I check my iCloud, it just says 0KB, like there's truly nothing there. I tried things other have replied to do and none of it has worked. I can't even try and use a backup because my last backup was from 5 years ago when I first got this phone (I never re-backed it up because I never had the storage to without needing to delete a lot of things). I also can't used Mail(?) to try and recover Note because I never set up Mail on my phone (I never saw a need to), so the only account attached to my notes is my iCloud account but everything is just gone. 5 years worth of notes just gone and I don't know what to do. I had so much important stuff in my notes and I just don't know what to do. Please help.

just have a question with your method. Did you always have iCloud backup?

I only just recently bought extra iCloud storage. And I’m nervous to try this method. But I’m desperate to get some of my lost notes back.

I agree, I actually support Apple, but on April 1st all notes on my iPhone got “deleted” after I wanted to sync them with my other devices (Mac, iPad).

My iPad & Mac are already synced but I never use them for Notes so the only notes I have are from 2021/2022 etc.

I've tried turning iCloud Synchronisation back off/on and also checked if I had any Backup for my phone on the Mac, but unfortunately not for the Notes I lost.

I spent way too much time on some and had some important information stored on it too. I’m very disappointed.

So basically, I synced all 3 devices believing my Notes would merge together, got no warning whatsoever before ALL Notes from my iPhone were deleted and now all I have are irrelevant notes I created years ago.

I had notes in the on my iPad section and was on it editing them. I go off the app for less than 30 seconds and when I came back they were all gone, as well as my quick notes. All that I have is 1 from the gmail section. I don’t have any recently deleted section and I tried what this says but it didn’t help. I still don’t have them. I really need my notes back.

I had lost all my notes that I had on my iPhone contacts. Did not have an issue with the NOTES app. Found the Settings/Notes/Settings “On My iPhone” Account on my iPhone and iPad was turned off…switched it on, but did not bring back my notes. Signed in on iCloud.com, went to Restore Data for contacts, restored to an earlier date with no change. Went to Contacts in iCloud.com and found all the missing notes. Copied and pasted them to my contact notes along with the NOTES app that I locked. Have confirmed my notes are back where they belong on both devices and able to edit them.

I created a folder to separate a couple of my notes. 2 Days passed by and the folder is nowhere to be seen. I checked iCloud as well as the Recently Deleted pages. I know I wasn't the one to delete the folder and nobody has access to my Apple ID as far as I am aware. I had very important information written, and want Apple to know I am greatly disappointed about this error.

I have the XR, and I woke up to the same issue. I tried refreshing to a back up. And that didn’t work. I tried troubleshooting things from my phone and nothing seems to work. The files are physically still searchable on the phone, but they are not ascertainable from the device. I believe this is an issue that needs to be fixed on a Dev end, it would be very preferable if they can sort out a fix for this ASAP because like myself, I know a lot of people have very important information on Notes app. I personally rely on my Notes app for my day-to-day routine. It helps me keep on track. I cannot afford to continue using Apple services if I cannot use the services to keep a job. I’m sure there was many people who use this for the same purpose. If there is an apple representative for a Dev reading this please. Help us with this issue ASAP.

I see that your message is from November 2023. The latest IOS on my devices, I’ve lost my journal that I put on the note app every night I’ve lost 30 out of 31 days in May, did you or anyone reading this message ever get your notes back.
