MacBook Pro 15" mid 2012 OSX El Capitan with 1TB SSD to be replaced with a 2TB SSD.

Full error message /sbin/newfs_hfs failed with error 256

S.M.A.R.T errors when trying to upgrade from High Sierra to Big Sur I am planning to replace my apple HD with NVMe ssd (rMBP late 2013) and before doing that trying to upgrade to the latest available macOS version on my device to prevent feature issues with drivers when ssd replaced, however I got the disk has S.M.A.R.T. error message when tried to upgrade and the status of HD shows failing when checked "info" in Macintosh HD". I also ran regular First Aid and also recovery mode and all shows it is successful but that neither solved the issue for upgrading and I still get the same message. Is there anyway to fix this? Also what would happen if I just clone to new ssd NVMe drive as is with High Sierra and then upgrade new SSD to Big Surf. am I going to run to lots of driver update issues? Thanks

The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50). I have recently purchased an external USB SSD and copied some files from an old Windows laptop that I threw away eventually. I now try to copy and paste the files from the disk to my personal Macbook air and I am getting the above-mentioned issue: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50). I guess since I moved the files from the Windows machine the hard disk is formatted from Windows OS and macOS cannot handle that. For sure I cannot move files to disk as well. Moreover, when trying to move files from the hard disk to a friend's Macbook Pro it works properly and can move the files to the laptop (again not the other way round). Is there any workaround this issue withtout deleting the files or re-formatting the disk? Is there a way in general the disk to work smoothly for both MacOs and Windows machines?

Trying to perform a clean install on my 2013 Macbook Air and I'm unable to Prior to wiping it clean, my 2013 Macbook Air was running MacOS Sierra. Trying to reboot into Internet Recovery Mode (Option + Command + R) and receiving an error (apple.com/support and beneath the link it says -5101F). Going into Recovery Mode (Command + R), it brings me to disk utility. I'm unable to "Reinstall MacOS Sierra" as it keeps sending a notification stating "An error has occurred while preparing the installation" The left pane in the Disk Utility window shows the following: (Internal) APPLE SSD SM0128G MEDIA OS X BASE SYSTEM (Disk Images) Apple disk image Media OS X BASE SYSTEM So, no Macintosh HD. I've tried numerous things and am at a complete loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That is a microscopic, detailed way fo telling you what senior contributors here would have told you had you asked,

"Disk Utility is incapable of making an accurate, bootable copy of the running system while it is running."
